PASTORS AND ELDERS

The word “presbyterian” comes from the Greek word for “elder”. Hope Chapel is led by a team of pastor(s) who, as elders, oversee and shepherd the church at the pleasure of the congregation. They particularly focus on matters concerning teaching, preaching, and prayer.

Sebastian sensed his call to build healthy churches while he was in college. Changing his major from music to theology, he attended a Christian institution, Trinity International University, where he could study the word of God on a professional level.

Sebastian earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies at Trinity and continued his studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. He went on to receive his Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from Covenant Theological Seminary where he explored the challenges of preaching and hearing in an age of distraction.

Sebastian is a contributor to The Gospel Coalition, Tabletalk magazine of Ligonier Ministries, and other resources. He has served for more than thirteen years as a Children’s Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Lead Pastor in Presbyterian churches before joining the staff at Hope Chapel. He currently teaches Preaching as an adjunct professor at Metro Baltimore Seminary and lives in Cockeysville, MD with his wife and three children.
